Inshanti offers Basil ct. linalool, also known as "Sweet Basil”. This oil has a higher percentage of linalool. This oil is generally a safe and gentle oil.

Basil takes its name from Latin for a royal "basilicum,” possibly because the plant was so highly prized that it was considered the king among plants. According to tradition, basil protects from unfortunate destinies and evil spirits. In the Middle Ages, it was prescribed for melancholy and depression.

The 16th century herbalist John Gerard wrote:
The smell of basil… taketh away sorrowfulness and maketh a man merry and glad.
